Veeco Bioscope (AFM)

SZ/Sample Scanned Confocal mounted on a Nikon Inverted Microscope  

The Veeco Bioscope was custom assembled for simultaneous scanning probe imaging and sample-scanned confocal laser fluorescence microscopy/spectroscopy.

  • ​Closed-loop x-y-z hybrid head, with an included lock-in amplifier for tapping mode
  • Phase imaging (compliance mapping capable)
  • Semi automated, “point and shoot” force curve collection and averaging (PIVa Controller)
  • Mounted on an inverted, sample scanning, confocal microscope with several available laser lines 
  • Fluorescence is collected via an avalanche photodiode – based single photon counting unit for simultaneous scanning probe and laser confocal microscopy
  • Equipped with glass tip holders and water-proof sleeve for performing AFM measurements in fluid environments
  • Temperature control chambers and humidity control apparatus for hydrogel imaging, permitting imaging/force curve measurements under precisely-controlled environmental conditions
  • Thermal tuning device for individual determination of cantilever spring constants for highly accurate force curve determinations
  • Solution exchange device (drug application system) for solution swapping in fluid
  • Conductive AFM (atomic force microscopy)
  • ​​Water cell for wet chemistry/biological samples
